I knew from an early age that I would be an artist. When I was 14 years, old I began studying sculpture with Mike Skop at Southern Connecticut State University. When he moved to Kentucky to build his private studio, I followed him. He was a dedicated and insightful mentor. 9 years later and back in Connecticut, I worked as a welder at Lippincott Incorporated, which was then one of the first fabricators of monumental metal sculptures. I welded for Louise Nevelson, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Indiana, Jimmy Rosati and many others.
I have a BFA in Sculpture from Northern Kentucky University '79, a Welding Certificiate from the Northern Kentucky Vocational-Technical School '80 and a Master's Degree in Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design '89. I am an adjunct professor in the School of Architecture at Yale University (teaching Materials for Architects) and at QU ONLINE at Quinnipiac University (teaching The History of Modern Design).
I own a.k.a. prototype, a design consultancy specializing in product design services and I still continue to sculpt.
